US Army Veteran Ron Harrison - Susanville, CA

The Patriot Guard Riders having been invited by the family of Ron Harrison to stand flag line, Escort and and participate in Military Honors for our Veteran.

On a cool very breezy day, 11 PGR arrived to participate in the escort and Military Honors for our Veteran.
I would like to thank the following;
4 PGR from Alturas, CA
5 PGR from Northern Nevada PGR
2 PGR from Susanville, CA
The Susanville VFW
The Army Honor Guard.
Thank you Veteran Ron Harrison for your service to our Country, his family and friends for their support of him throughout his life.

This from the Northern Nevada PGR that attended also;
‘This past Saturday four motors and a rider from Northern Nevada PGR set off to Susanville to support our Northern California PGR in honoring Army Veteran Ron Harrison. The NN PGR joined two NC PGR members in standing a flag line at the Catholic Church prior to the service, then retired to the local Burger King for an hour for the service to take it’s course. Following the service this group of PGR, lead by Susanville, CA PGR Ride Captain Blake “Burnout”, provided the escort of the veteran and a very long procession of family and friends to the cemetery. At the cemetery we met 4 other NC PGR to stand flag line for the full military services. It was a blustery windy afternoon, but a beautiful service I am sure the family appreciated. God’s Speed Ron Harrison, your service has been fulfilled.

I want to specially thank the two riders from Dayton, you will all remember Laura King from the Battle Mountain escort for her husband. Laura and her good friend Carlos met us on the Mt Rose on-ramp in south Reno, where once we arrived in Susanville we met up with Bob Arroyo, our Reno Ride Captain. Thank you all.

Ron was born in 1941 in Susanville. He went to Elementary and High School in Susanville and graduated class of 1959. Ron joined the US Army in 1959 and was stationed at Travis Air Force Base and later in Germany.

Ron worked as a draftsman from 1963 to 1970 at the Tehema County Assesors Office in Red Bluff, CA. He also worked as a Reserve Fish and Game Warden while employed at the Assesors Office. In September 1970 Ron began with the CA Dept of Fish and Game in Glenn County when living in Orland, CA. In 1978 Ron was assigned as the Game Warden for Lassen County until retirement in 2002. He also served as a PI for Lassen County and several local Attorneys.
